Coral
reefs are very sensitive and marine life is dependent on an intact
biological nature. Almost the entire coast of the
Sinai Peninsula is a nature
protected area – please help to save the coral
reefs.
Any form of fishing or spear fishing is forbidden
by law and punishable.
Collecting of any marine life (reef fish, corals
or shells) above or below
the water is absolutely prohibited. Please do not
feed the fish,
as you
destroy the sensitive balance in the food chain.
Don’t use corals or the reef as a support, as by
touching you kill the polyps
and finally the corals will die. With proper
buoyancy you avoid major damages
on the coral reefs. Do not litter or throw any
left over food into the sea.
Taking these rules into consideration you make an
important contribution
to protect the marine life.
These facts are very important to us. It’s all
tied together in a delicate
balance that implores us to observe, but to keep
our distance helping to
preserve our house-reef
“The
Islands”,
as well as all other reefs intact
for generations to come.
These reefs are living, breathing natural wonders
that are as much as
thousands of years old. They grow at imperceptibly
slow rates. The progress
begins as the living portion of the coral extracts
calcium from seawater and
constructs limestone skeletons to form the
backbone of the reefs.
Sea fans, plumes and microscopic plants attach to
the skeletons, resulting
in a diverse and brightly coloured habitat that
provides shelter, food and
breeding sites for nearly 600 species of fish.
Explore the Undersea Wonders – But carefully!
Open water divers are allowed to go to a depth of
18 meters.
Once more trained, you can set off for deeper
attractions.
No matter how deep you go, remember the rules: Be
cautious! Be courteous!
Let your camera capture the memories of these
natural wonders of the world
while you leave them untouched for future
generations.
